9th Latin American Congress on Artificial Organs and Biomaterials
13th Congress of the Latin American Society on Biomaterials, Artificial Organs and Tissue Engineering - SLABO
August 24-27, 2016 - Foz do Iguaçu, PR, Brazil

9th Latin American Congress on Artificial Organs and Biomaterials (COLAOB 2016)

The Latin American Congress on Artificial Organs and Biomaterials (COLAOB) is an event that became, through the years, the principal conference in Latin America in the Biomaterials area. This success is due to the multi and transdisciplinary character that guides their discussions in science, health and engineering field, creating an environment conducive to implement new research and collaborations.

This is the 9th edition of an event that began in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) in 1998. Early editions took place in Belo Horizonte (2000), São Paulo (2002), Campinas (2004), Caxambu (2006), Ouro Preto (2008), Gramado (2010), Natal (2012) and Rosario, Argentina (2014). COLAOB 2016, will be held in Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil), city with adequate infrastructure for large national and international events, with pleasant climate, large hotel chain and located strategically in a region of easy access to researchers from several countries of Latin America, especially in the southern cone.

COLAOB has the expectation of bringing together active researchers in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Biology and Veterinary Medicine area, acting at biomaterials and artificial organs fields, to develop new materials for implants and devices for improving human life, and understanding the interaction mechanisms of materials with biological tissues.

The Conference program will consist of plenary and keynote lectures, symposia, and invited talks addressing the latest significant discoveries and developments in all major fields of biomaterials and related disciplines. Abstracts submitted will be evaluated in relation to quality and impact. The accepted abstracts will be assigned to the oral presentation and poster sessions, and will appear in the conference proceedings. The submission of full papers to an international journal is in negotiation.

We expect scientists from other countries (mostly Latin American), including academics, industry representatives, and students from a wide range of disciplines, with traditional multidisciplinary approach that is typical of our community of biomaterials.

In addition, as traditional in COLAOB, we are preparing several social activities, because we believe that the good humor and a festive atmosphere help in social interaction and in the formation of friendships and interpersonal relationships network, which greatly assists in the development of work and research and the exchange of experiences and knowledge among its members.

See you at Foz do Iguaçu.
